Nov 16th Winter is coming again

Hey sailor fans…  well the worst early November winter weather in New York city and Washington in over a 100 years hit last night. Eek. Time for WildChild to make her escape more south. We will be leaving today on the backside of this nasty weather to make our unforgiving run around cape Hattaras. The winds are still blowing 25 knots and its cold here. The sun us shining and the forecasts…  (if they can be believed) say now is the perfect time to make the run.

We have seen some other boats leaving here already this morning. A couple of large Catamarans have already headed out from Norfolk. We are leaving a bit late at around noon today to give the ocean a little time to settle down.

This is a scary passage and our longest ocean passage to date. The head chicken-in-charge  (Lexi) is nervous. We have to make a minimum of 160 nautical miles with no plan B and skirt the edge of the Gulf Stream. We will probably run 2 nights or 3 depending on how we are feeling and the mood of Mom (Mother nature).

We will be offshore for most of this week so wish us luck and send your prayers please. We just got episodes 18 and 19 online last night so enjoy them.
